Dr. George Washington Carver is one of the most important Americans of the 20th century.  His contributions to farming and agriculture saved the farming industry that currently feeds the world.  For his achievements, he was honored with a National Holiday by Congress on the day of his death, January 5, 1943.  This little known holiday is not celebrated to the heights appropriate to its significance.  We propose the proper resurrection of this seventy-eight year old dormant holiday which was a significant first for African Americans in the form of a National Holiday.  Our project will promote the holiday to be accepted on a national platform where citizens may pay respect, observance, and reflection of this great American.

On January 5th, 2026, the George Washington Carver National Holiday will be in existence for 80 years.  Our organization will galvanize resources and make a clarion call for the holiday to receive its true accolades.  The promotion of the National Holiday will inspire present and future generations to persevere even under arduous conditions; and allow their innate creativity to soar beyond oppression.
